Le Fournil de Pierre is a bakery in JBR, an area close to the beach in Dubai which is very popular thanks to its multiple cafes, restaurants and shops. It sells a range of delicious bread, pastries, salads and sandwiches.
I found out about Le Fournil de Pierre thanks to a French-Tunisian friend who brought me here for breakfast. Since them, every time I’ve been, I’ve always been satisfied with the quality of the food, it’s really good.
The place is nice, with a huge stained glass window overlooking the square which lets in lots of natural light and plenty of tables outdoors where you can eat when the weather permits.
When it comes to breakfast, I prefer the ‘Petit dejeuner complet‘ because it has everything. It includes: orange juice, half Pierette (baguette), a choice of croissants served with butter and jam, two eggs (cooked to your preference), a vegetable side dish and a hot drink of your choice.
– As for the things which you choose, I usually request a simple croissant, eggs benedict with turkey ham and hollandaise sauce on the side and a cappuccino. –
It’s a really great breakfast. The Eggs Benedict is some of the best that I’ve eaten in Dubai so far: the bread was fresh and crisp, while the turkey ham goes perfectly with the sauce. – I had it with salmon once but I think that here it’s better with turkey ham. – The salad is also delicious, but there’s more: the baguettes have a perfectly crispy, golden crust and the croissants are light and flaky – they are both the best in town!
If you order a cappuccino then be forewarned, it’s a lot hotter than the standard Italian version and more like a cafe latte.
If you prefer a high-protein breakfast then order the ‘Petit dejeuner gourmand‘, which includes: toasted bread served with butter and jam, two eggs cooked to your preference with chicken sausage, hash brown potatoes, beef bacon, grilled mushrooms and tomato with a freshly squeezed orange juice and an hot beverage.
– I’ve never ordered it, but I have tasted the beef bacon and it was good. Anyway, I really recommend you don’t miss out on the baguettes and croissants because they are both excellent. Perhaps you could ask to have some added to this breakfast ;). –
Their menu also offers an healthy breakfast with organic Granola, an “Assiette de fromage” (a selection of cheeses), BIO eggs cooked in different ways and, If you are really starving they also have “Les Oeufs BIO” which includes: three eggs BIO cooked the way you desire served with jeune pousse salade and freshly baked bread.
The waiters are friendly and helpful and although the service is a little slow, it should improve.
The total cost of these breakfasts (Petit dejeuner complet and gourmand + 2 portions of turkey ham or salmon, which is optional) is 163.00 AED [around 40,75€].
