I have heard a lot about the Bubbalicious brunch at the Westin Dubai. It is really famous in the city, and I went with high expectations when a friend of mine decided to celebrate his birthday there.
I really liked the dress code for Bubbalicious which is smart casual. The brunch is suitable for a wide range of ages. There is a kids’ area, which makes it perfect both for families and for a group of friends.
First of all, we were entertained by an extraordinary magician and his amazing tricks. We found him quite astonishing.
The themed food stations are very fine and fortunately, smoking at the table is not allowed.
There were almost ten live cooking (that’s why this brunch is so famous) so them are able to match the different tastes of a big group of friends. Everyone can eat different types of cuisine at the same table. There is Japanese, Thai, Chinese and even fish, meat, or pizza. It was unbelievable! I wanted to taste absolutely everything. But soon I realised with regret that this would be impossible. The Bubbalicious brunch is too big and, in some respects, it is not very well organised. Even though the space available is huge, the brunch is spread across three restaurants and the themed food stations are scattered among them. So when you go to the dessert buffet you will discover that there are other areas with Sushi and Thai.
Therefore, my suggestion is to go to the brunch with a precise idea about which types of cusine you want to eat and focus on that.
I had very high expectations of the seafood, but I was disappointed. I had raw oysters (two men opened them live) but just two of them had the fresh taste of the sea. Then I ate shrimp but since they were in ice, they were very cold and didn’t have any flavour. Still not satisfied, I tried raw tuna and salmon and the result was even disappointing.
I liked some of the oriental food that I tried especially the Spicy Noodles and Thai Red Chicken (the sauce was amazing) and the Sushi was ok.
My favourites among the desserts I tasted were: Sticky Toffee Cake and Peaches – sorry, I don’t know the exact name of this dessert – (both suggested to me by a waiter).
As far as drinks are concerned, I liked ‘Cosmo‘ even though it was served in syringes which, in my opinion, wasn’t very cool. I liked the Alice in Wonderland tea garden hideaway where alcoholic drinks were served, but the desserts in this area weren’t very attractive.
The staff was prompt for every request, they were quick, always smiling and very kind.
It is possible choose among three options: 1. with free flow Bubbly at AED 680 [around 170,00€] 2. with free flow Sparkling at AED 550 [around 137,00€] 3. with soft drinks at AED 450 [around 112,00€]
Kids 6-12 at AED225 [around 56,00€] – Kids under 6 eat for free.
To sum up, this brunch is a nice experience and you should try at least once and I suggest also to don’t miss the ‘after’ upstairs!
