The İrmik Helvası is a traditional Turkish recipe made from semolina flour. It’s a delicious dessert which doesn’t require an oven.
Ingredients
– 2 Full tablespoons of butter
– 2 Cups of semolina
– 1.5 Cups of sugar
– 2 Cups of milk
– Cinnamon powder
– Pine nuts
Method
- Melt the butter in a pan. Add the pine nuts and let them toast for a minute
- Pour over the semolina and stir continuously for around 6 minutes over medium heat until the color of the semolina has turned into a light brown color
- Add the sugar and roast all ingredients for a few more minutes. Stir continuously to not burn the semolina
- Add the milk and keep stirring all mixture until the milk has been absorbed
- Once ready pour all mixture into a plate, shape it with a spoon and let it rest for at least half an hour
- Sprinkle the top with cinnamon, cut into slices and serve
